EXTINCTION SOUP
We’re very excited to announce our upcoming film, Captivity. In an effort to raise public awareness, the project reveals never before seen footage documenting the mistreatment of animals in zoos, circuses and parks.
THE STORY...
Extinction Soup
As the demand for shark fin soup in Japan, Taiwan and China continues to grow, so does the destruction and strain placed on shark populations. Just one fishing boat can yield over 10,000 fins from a single trip, leaving all 10,000 of those sharks to die after harvesting the desired meat. The Progression Foundation and Shark Allies have partnered in protecting sharks from destructive hunting for use of their fins and meat. In doing so, we’re simultaneously working to shift the public perception of this incredible, apex species.
In collaboration with Shark Allies we created Extinction Soup, an engaging documentary exposing the shark fin trade and its severe impact upon the species. After Extinction Soup premiered in film festivals around the world, the official release brought the magnitude of the shark fin industry to American televisions.
With the help of environmental research and educational media like Extinction Soup, we continue to increase awareness and push new legislation to protect shark populations. Extinction soup has directly contributed to creating shark sanctuaries and passing several bills prohibiting shark fin possession.
